Finished up the machining on the ratchet ring I've put off for too long. I got the keyway broached today and did a quick check for size. Got to use the 'new to me' adjustable parallel(s) I found on ebay. Nice.
The broach did a nice job and the slot came out perfect, 0.376" for a 3/8" key.
I also got to use my 'new to me' Starrett 54 vice hold downs for stepping the original 10mm key to fit my new ratchet ring. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with how well the hold downs worked. I was pretty impressed really. They latched on to the base of the key and held it down tight to the 1-2-3 block it was sitting on. The key never budged.
Test fit, and it went all the way on the pinion this time!
Only thing left now is the heat treating but that will wait until next week sometime. Right now I smell Christmas Eve dinner - so......
