Yes that is the idea
The depth of cut and the taper on the tool are super critical
I have managed to borrow a form insert i just need to make a holder for it

I machined another blank for the lead screw
It is sitting in the lathe between centres (like i should have done first time around)SlapheadSlapheadSlaphead

I too would be keen to know a little more about the Toolholder. Is it just for thread cutting and are there any drawings of it on the net?
