Lathe Cross Slide Problem

With every thing assembled, the cross slide close to the operator (you) and the nut under the hole in the cross slide make a mark on the nut then slide the cross slide as far away from you and wind the nut under it and see if your reference mark lines up.

Finally got around to drilling the hole for the roll pin that holds the gear in place.

Sorry for the late response. I was at a family picnic all day yesterday.

I tried fitting the nut to the lead screw and it's too tall to clear the trough in the saddle. See sketch below. The green is the nut and the blue dashed line is the trough. I need to do some more measurements to see if this is salvageable. Sweat

Before modifying it, be sure it's not something where it could fit as is if lifted over and into a well inside the assembly. Or, can you easily modify the place where it should land?

Yup, both of those things are what I need to look into. I didn't get time today but I've got all this week off so I'm going to dig into it tomorrow.
