Guys
Can somebody please confirm whether this Rod has to be hardened
My Son has asked me to turn one in Stainless Steel and am ready to finish one in 316
From the little we understand of the process, all the energy forces are absorbed by the Spring and not much applied to the Guide Rod
So, we assume a non-hardened material will do. Am I on track here ???

The factory guide rod on my daily carry (Kahr) was made of
plastic. But given it's intended usage, I replaced it with a stainless rod for reliability. Of course a lot of frames are made of polymer now too. Non-hardened will be just fine.

A lot of them are tungsten for recoil control. It is about the hardness of 303 stainless, but really heavy.
Un-hardened is perfectly acceptable.

I made a stainless one for my Glock 17 but as its only an Airsoft 17 it doesn't matter!
