Digital Tachometer Problems
#11
Well, I contacted the ebay seller. They suggested that I might try to work around the defect. I replied that this was impossible. They then offered three choices:

1. Ship it back (to Asia) and get a refund.
2. Get an unspecified partial refund.
3. Buy a new one and get a 20% discount to be applied AFTER I paid.

Due to the slowness of their responses this took about three days. Having just about lost patience with them I replied:

"Sorry, but due to your slow shipping, defective product, and slow response to my emails I do not wish to have any further dealings with you. I will also leave you negative feedback and publish my unhappiness with your customer service online.

I would recommend that you respond more quickly in the future when contacted by a dissatisfied customer."

I also ordered a tachometer from a supplier in the USA.

Lo and behold I then received this response:

"hi,dear sir or madam
thanks for your quick reply
it is my pleasure to help you
about this issue ,we intend to resend you a new one which will not be like the last situation ,and you will receive it soon ,hope this time can satisfy you ,
do you agree?
dear ,if you disgaree ,pls contact us in advance ,we will try our best to help you ,hope not to leva the negative or open the case
looking forward to your early reply
your understand will be highly appreciated
have a nice day
best regards"

I guess they are either sincere or are blowing me off until the time for feedback expires. I suppose I'll wait about three weeks and see.

So the best possible outcome is that I will have an extra tachometer I don't need way too long after I ordered it.

Well, just in case I left any of you sitting breathlessly on the edge of your seat, my tachometer (same model) that I ordered from a US company came in today. It works.

I did use it on the HF X2 mini mill. I was badly under-guesstimating the RPMs. Usually by at least 100. So it is a worthwhile acquisition for me.
