Flap discs - what's the secret?

Hello Highpower
Very nice photos, shows clearly the cloth material left.
I have never seen that before.
We will all learn from this.
One observation! I have never used one with such course grit not that should make any difference.

Ive never seen the cloth exposed either. Mine tend to load up and glase over especially if they get near anything oily.
For any Canadians, Canadian tire sell them in a pack of about 12 with a felt buffer and a brillow pad looking disk for removing paint. (That one by the way is incredible for that, paint comes off and virtually no sparks so the metal isn't abraded). Anyway, they often go on sale at about $20, they want 6 or 7 each for them. Ive used Walter ones and yes they are a little better but not enough to justify the cost.
Free advice is worth exactly what you payed for it.

Here they are called Strip-it discs and they are amazing. I used them a lot when cleaning up my old lathe and I always have one fitted to one of my angle grinders.

Hi Highpower, I think you have been unlucky, I bought a load of these at my local Lidl supermarket when they were on special offer for cheap, and I am still using the same one, and it cleans up metal better than a grinding disc! I think trying different grades and makes is the way to go.
