After looking for a vertical mill for a while I landed a Rockwell
about the third project I tried was a gear. Here it is .

First time I've seen what looks like a right-hand Brown&Sharpe style head. Oh, and yes yes, nice gear. Smiley-dancenana

Try a bevel. Same cutter, but the head sits on the table at 45 degrees. Some easy directions in this book. Drop down the "contents" menu and pick page 68:

Hi Tom 
The Gear was built only to prove to myself I could do it.
It had no other purpose. It was a the first one and I was thrilled with the outcome of it.
