Todays Project - What did you do today?
Nice. Thumbsup

That's something I've always wanted to try, but never got around to.

Several sources have then for $100 or less.  Easy to set up and use and excellent for smaller parts.

Looks like I should have made a larger carport.

The drive for the injector pump came loose. Found 2 broken bolts and 2 stripped.

Had to pull the drive but drive gear had to be held in place to keep it in time. Made 3 brackets that went through holes in the gear face. Worked like a charm.

The two bolts were broke off about a 1/4 inch inside the hole. Mounted a short bolt in the lathe and drilled a 1/8th hole though it, that threaded into the hole to act as a guide. No room to work, had to use an angle drill to get in, the guide worked like a charm. The two offending bolts actually came out with an easy out!!!!!!! Think I could count on one hand how often they've worked for me.
Free advice is worth exactly what you payed for it.

Great idea with the brackets to hold the timing gear in place.
It's probably been nearly 40 years since I have used an easy-out, but I have not forgotten how hard it is to remove a broken one.

Finally got around to making the spindle lock for my mini mill that I have been thinking about for a very long time.

Lock rod is a bolt that I cut the head off.  Block was some scrap lying around.  Button is Delrin - hence the lousy surface finish.  But it works, and I no longer have to dig through the swarf to find the original spindle lock rod.

Full of ideas, but slow to produce parts

Looks good Roger.  Thumbsup

You may want to give that Delrin another try. A tool with a generous radius and lots of clearance should produce an excellent finish.

I agree with Tom. I always got a real nice finish on Delrin using HSS and a round tip.

Taking a break from the steam engine.
A couple of us are fixing up an old ice fishing shack. Won't be a safe fish in the lake.
Anyway, needed a wood stove, so built one today. Had some pipe, 12 3/4 od with a 1/4 inch wall, shouldn't burn through any time soon. Some REALLY rusty plate made up the rest. So rusty the plasma table had trouble with it, the pitted surface kept deflecting the arc resulting in a rough cut,
Attempted to brush the dust off my rusty stick welding skills, the metal was far to rusty for mig without hours of grinding. Can't remember the last time I had the old Miller stick machine going. Forgot how nice it was to weld with, think its 250 amp DC, the rod just never sticks with that much power behind it.

Installed a DRO onto my mill. With my birthday and Christmas in the same week, sometimes I can sway my good lady towards something I'm hankering for. This was one of those times Big Grin

I'll mount the display head onto the overarm as part of the frankenmill project. For the time being it's living nearby.
