Ah, Dave, the collets looked shiny enough for me. Remember, I don't have the advantage of Rob's shiny camera.

Must be the "other side of the equator" thing.

That would certainly explain it.

Ah yes, the collet nut and wrench. A bit pricy but it's a one-time purchase and they'll outlast me by many decades, I'm sure.

You know the rules Ed. When you're broke, you are always tripping over great deals on tools that are available NOW.
On the rare occasions that you have some cash in your pocket, it's a desert out there.
Ed, I'm not sure if you have heard of Arc Euro Trade but they do a set of
ER32 collet blocks. Just our luck that they are out of stock but I will definitely be getting a set, as I am set up for ER32. You may be lucky and find they will bring out these in the ER40 size at some point.

Those would be nice in ER-40. I've never seen ER collet blocks like that before.
OK, I take that back. I have seen those ER collet blocks before. Our very own John, aka: doubleboost, made some.

I had a surprise waiting for me when I got home today.
They weren't out of stock after all. I must have gotten the last set.
