Sounds like it could be work hardening or your parting tool was slightly above center.
Thanks Greg. I'll have a look. Maybe the locking screw work loose after changing tools a few times. If that's the case, do you think its a good idea to put a drop of loctite on the QC holder to hold the position of the locking screw? If I've to check every time, my QCTP will have to be renamed to SCTP (slow change tool post)... Bawling

I wouldn't use loctite on an adjustment, might want to change tools some day. It might not be high but would be worth a check, I sometimes run mine a few thou low to make it dig better, but my machines are probably a little heavier.

I end up with chips hiding in the dovetail where the post sits on the compound slide which will hold the next holder up high when you change tools,

you might want to check and see if thats whats happening, only take a small chip to push the holder up a good ways.
