Darren I hate to say it but she left a long time ago.
there is no nut, the moveable jaw is dovetailed into the stationary bottom frame and is threaded for the Acme Rod that opens and closes the vise. And the vise isn't big enough to warrant putting soft jaws on it except to keep it part for part with the original that it was copied from. Jaw width by the time that its cleaned up will be around 1.8 inches, not like the owner is going to be banging on it with a sledge

The soft jaw comment was tongue in cheek Dave, given that you have cast them out of Al

my slotted spoon won't hold up in cast iron so I repurposed a worn out blade off my mower deck
shame I didn't have a pot of stew ready to stick in the beast after pouring the iron, all the heat gone to waste.
