Souped up the compressor. 
The old filter was in rough shape, ran across this one off a 70's Chevy pickup. Tried to sand blast it, the top ended up full of holes, had to bondo it before painting.

I worked on celebrating my brother's, sister's and nephew's birthday this evening. Had a great time, even though it will likely mean I'll be late into work tomorrow morning. So what.

Greg, I did something similar with a motorcycle air filter, a clamp-on K&N just happened to be the right size for the pipe nipple that threaded into the intake port.

Amazing how much quieter they run with a filter, isn't it?

This one was close on size too. The manifold had a 4 3/8 dia recess for the filter and the air cleaner bore was 4 1/2. Made an aluminum spool to adapt and raise it an inch to clear. Covering the open filter really made a difference, guess you could hear the reed valves opening and closing before.

like it souped up V- twin compressor W/ vintage Chevy air cleaner ..looks like a 283Ci or 307 Ci lots of memories there
