I'm not worried about getting it down the planks into the basement. Gravity is my friend. It's getting it off of the pallet and building a sled for it to anchor to. It can't lay on its side, it won't fit through the doorway.

A hard point is something one can attach to for heavy lifting, pulling, etc.  An example would be a large forged eye bolt embedded in  concrete.  I've used a leg of my welding bench since it is held firmly in place with 1/2" concrete anchors.

My "hard point" is a worm gear winch bolted to a 4x4 and braced across the door opening. So far it's worked fine.

The base casting is bolted to the pallet with four of these.

Can't get it off the pallet... Nothing to connect the chain to? How about removing the lag bolts, tilting it to insert lifting eyes in their place and put nuts on the bottom. Connect a chain or cable to each eye to your leveler and engine hoist. Yes? No?

I can get if off the pallet and I was thinking along those lines but I fear it may flip over on me. Sweat
I'd rather lift it from the top if possible. I'm considering putting the turret back on and lifting from it.

If you do it with the eyes on the base, when you lift it, as soon as the chains are tight you can strap the top to the 4 chains. It won't move then.

Not much to show but the sled is mostly done for the main casting. Now I've got to figure out how I'm going to get the casting onto the sled.  Chin

How about the crane you've been using for everything else?

Of course I'll use that. It's just that there's no real good way of grabbing on to the casting to lift it. I think I'm going to need to make use of the turret spider and some metal bar to rig up a lifting point. I'm still thinking about it. Chin
