Todays Project - What did you do today?
What? You didn't make the crucible?  Jawdrop

It sounds like you are having a heck of a lot of fun and that's what counts. Nice work.

The things we have to do to get to the things we want to do get out of hand at times.
Nice work on the gears, I've cut racks on the shaper but haven't tried gears, you've added another project to my list.
Free advice is worth exactly what you payed for it.

Fall must be around the corner, harvested the garlic today.
First year I planted, 200 heads.
Was a dry year and I didn't haul water to them very often, not real big but not bad.

So Greg...what does one do with 200 heads of garlic? Will you actually use it, or is it just another of our hobbies gone awry?

Out of the blue, my wife decided that it would be nice to have a swimming pool again, since the one we had when the kids were young was so much fun. Of course she didn't have to maintain it, so she really has no idea of how much "fun" it really was. Anyway, we decided to place it close to the lower deck and I ordered five yards of sand to make a level surface. After wheelbarrowing that down the hill to the back yard, it became painfully obvious that much more was going to be needed to level out the grade, so we had another five yards delivered. That too came up short, so we rotated the area 90º so it was perpendicular to the grade to conserve sand, which meant moving the five yards we just deposited, and it STILL wasn't enough. I wasn't about to pay another delivery charge, so we hauled two more yards in the pickup (two trips), and it was finally just enough. I'm definitely feeling it today after hand hauling, spreading, compacting and leveling more than 16,000 pounds of sand.

Anyway, we finished that up Friday morning and the pool was delivered just after noon. It took us about four hours to erect it and until this evening to pass 9000 gallons of water through the garden hose. Tomorrow will be getting the filter up and running and start conditioning the ugly well water that it was filled with. It was too dark when we got home tonight to get pics, so I'll post a couple tomorrow. This is why I rarely have time to spend in the shop during the summer.

Another hobby yes, but will need 50 for seeding the next crop so that only leaves 3 per week if I can find a way to store them. And we probably use close to 3 per week. Hum maybe better save 75 for seed and increase production.
