I will second this request Ed , people keep saying things like knock the edge back for drilling brass , but not give any detail of what exactly they mean by it ...................... I am sure all will become clear once Tom gets to work on a video covering the topic

Would tomorrow be alright Mick, I'm a little busy SLEEPING at the moment.
![]() I actually thought of a little demonstration of what a standard drill bit does when you try to drill brass or plastic, so this should be fun. Tom

Umm.. I just take a stone to the edge and put a wee bit of a negative rake on it. I guess that's hard to picture. Tom? Where's that video?! :)
Oh hey, another stunt with a stone is to round the outer tips a bit. It's called a poor-boy's reamer. :) :)

Hi Tom, I am awake now and watched the video
![]() ![]() It looks more straight forward to alter the drill bit anyway so I will do some spare drills and keep them for brass. Thanks again for posting Tom ![]() Cheers Mick.

I knew it was dangerous, i didn't know how to solve the problem. I always used more clamps. Thanks for the knowledge! This could not be more simple.
