Well if compared to online metals for instance it is very cheap. I copied this from their list and one six footer is $56.23 cents so If I got two of them it would be around 112.46 by my calculation and you have not paid shipping or tax. You might not have to pay tax if you are not in the state the material ships from. My $87 was tax included. Not that I would not pay less if you can find a lower price for me I would be very grateful.

Hey, hs, It just seemed expensive to me. I could be (and probably am) wrong.

I've gotten stuff from here because its withing driving distance of my house.

Not necessarily applicable for Ben but it does give you an idea of what stuff costs in other areas. I also like it because it gives me the weight and if I happen to be able to find what I am looking for in their "drops" area ... very well organized and indoors ... I have a clue what it will cost me as drops are by weight.

That is a lot cheaper, about $20 less. I wondered what the shipping would be and it is about $50 with $15 handling fee. That ate up my $20 lower price. I wish we had one of those around here. I may be able to find a lot cheaper steel supply around here eventually, I just have to keep on looking. Still the price I paid is better when it gets to my garage than I would have done with online metals and this merchant also. But you are certainly thinking along the right lines, now find me one in Houston.

That's where I used to buy all of my steel from when I still lived in Minneapolis. Since I've moved about 50 miles or so west of there I started getting my steel from Midwest Iron in St. Cloud. I was paying about half compared to Discount Steel. Now the margin has narrowed a bit but it's still substantially less. It's a family owned business that's been around for a long time and I assume the overhead is much lower than Discount Steel's. But, it would be quite a drive for you Arvid.
