Prints
#1
While packing up the items from my shop I never found the prints I used when teaching at the vo-tech. I think I sent them to a member who is currently teaching machining. I also sent my South Bend manuals etc to him.

What kind of prints? Apprentice projects like V-blocks and the like?
Full of ideas, but slow to produce parts

No V blocks, but they included a hardened & ground squaring vise, tap wrench, hardened & ground parallels, c clamps, file handle, fly cutter, and some others I think. I drew them up using technical pens long before I started using a computer so they were hand drawn and I used an IBM Selectric typewriter with a long carriage for the numerals.

I made them so the students would also learn multiple methods such as single point V form and ACME threading, head tramming, indicating in a 4 jaw chuck, heat treating, surface grinding, leaving grinding material on the appropriate surfaces, indexing with a direct indexer, using a horizontal milling head attachment, etc. They also had to hand grind all their turning and threading tools. I designed and sequenced their projects around the methods I wanted them to learn.

I recently drew up a bunch of stuff like that for the toolroom supervisor. He has a few apprentices going through the program at the moment. All the parts were found online, and the supervisor picked the ones he thought would be most helpful for learning the skills we need around here.

The best part is that he has them make multiple copies of the parts, so I should be getting a bench block and some other handy shop tools soon.
