Todays Project - What did you do today?
Dave,

Get out the shiny plastic camera and shine that puppy!

Nice job. Looks to be store bought. Oops, that was an insult. I mean it looks to be a custom made part from a highly skilled craftsman. Big Grin

Gave it a bit of a buff, didn't really make it shiny Chin
Any suggestion for the type of best buffing compound to make it shine?

Hmmm. Pretty much any compound should shine it up. Try polishing it wet with some 600 grit first to remove any machining marks, then buff. If it's a thermoplastic, you may need to lean on it a bit to generate some heat.

I tried a couple of compounds - one for aluminium and one for stainless - didn't do much Chin
I've tried this "lean on it a bit" in the past - gets bluudy hot and melts if I'm not careful Rotfl

Thought about Brasso - might give that a go.
I think it is about time someone made some stuff "Make your plastic bits shiny" Smiley-dancenana

Perfectly sized and proportioned. And it looks good too - camera or not. Big Grin

It looks like a few of the "regular" polishing compounds work on plastics as well? http://www.professionalplastics.com/BUFFINGCOMPOUND

I've got your touch as well with plastics Dave. I tend to melt them too. Slaphead

Thanks Ed and Willie.
I tried the white - may be I have to "lean on it a bit more"
I have some blue so I could try that.
But first I'm going to look for an off cut and I'll ruin that first Rotfl

Hopefully you meant to say "ruin that instead".

Seems it does not want to polish Slaphead
So I will leave it as a "satin" finish otherwise known as a "shiny matt finish" Rotfl

It is part of some bending rollers I made.
