Your right those things look nasty. The shavings there are what I got when I tried cutting the shingles down the grain. They wrapped around everything in the band mill, had to go with cutting across the grain , not as smooth a face but manageable sawdust. The circular saw has to be at least a 1/4 inch thick so they create more waste than shingle, as the shingle tapers from 1/4 to 1/16

I dont know anything about shingles, but those door hinges are sumthin else.

Greg, I figure your pic shows about a hundred+/- shingles already up so if you don't stop to take too many pics, at the rate you work, I figger you'll be done by Father's day! Rotfl

P.S. good eye on the hinges Brian, they sure do look nice!

Here's another set I made a few years ago. They brought me the door I did the iron work and hinges. The hinges have brass bushings and hardened pins to take the weight.

Greg,

I'm curious about your new mower. I'm looking to get a rider and I don't need a big one so that Craftsman looks to be the perfect size. Can you tell me what the model number is on that? I looked on the Sears web site but they have so many that look the same that a model number would help. How do you like it so far? Does it have a floating deck?
