More welding questions.
The end cap thickness is 3mm the same thickness as the tank. Now what if I used 6mm or 10mm thick steel for the end caps would that be a bad idea.

Nop, just weld hotter and direct the arc toward the heavier section.
At the moment I'm finishing off the base for the pusher, I'd already started thinking the 25mm thick steel would have been here last week.
Just 3 bits and a few holes for the nuts and bolts to hold it together.

Does seem to be taking a long time, all this stop and start plus losing bits doesn't help.

However I'm still ticked off about the 25mm steel that seemed to have 'walked' off.

only thing I can say is you will find it exactly where you laid it down at.
same place I finally found the drive dog for my wood lathe, now if I could just find where I put the dead center I could turn that piece of rosewood I want to make a cleaning rod handle out of
