Sounds like quite a plan there Rick but one that you should have no trouble in achieving, based on what I have seen in your previous posts. Of course, we expect detailed threads and pictures as you progress your ideas.
I have nothing against CNC but as a hobby machinist I want to crash my machines by myself, not let my computer do it!
Unfortunately, it's time to "bite the bullet" I'm not likely to ever get back to my former capacity, so it is time to down size my equipment somewhat, I just don't need a Lathe that can turn a 17" diameter shaft 60" long, Nor do I need a huge Guillotine or folder,
I am going to focus on stuff I can pick up and put on a bench,
I'm even considering selling my little radial drill (which I love) and I think I'll be parting with my old Denbigh Mill too, it's an oldie but it has a dividing head, vertical attachment and a slotting head, and with a little work could be a great Mill once again, I bought it for the slotting capacity twenty years ago and it has sat in the corner cutting keyways when I needed it to, unloved but not mistreated,
I used to have two of them the other was set up for cutting splines, using the slotting head turned on it's side so it acted as a shaper, it could cut a 25 tooth spline in 15 minutes and a 32 tooth spline in 20 minutes. Actually the Denbigh is also the biggest Lathe I ever owned, and that is appropriate in this thread, I had a 14" four jaw chuck that used to fit in the spindle taper, I once used it to turn the OD and a face on a three foot diameter fan impeller it was awesome to watch, I fitted a compound slide unit off of a Colchester Master 6", an old flat belt one that I had when I was a kid.
That old Colchester was the inspiration behind me buying and restoring the geared head Colchester Master that I have now. I suppose the geared head Colchester needs to find a new home too
Actually I've just realised that I'm doing this in the wrong place, sorry, so I'll be placing an add in the for sales shortly.
