I got three of those 0% lowers Vinny. Where did you get yours from?

Ed
That group of vets in Kansas or Missouri. I think the same place you did. I found another place that had 0% but what their idea of a 0% was a chunk of 7075. No machining done to it at all, and it was more expensive than this thing!
Just noticed they sent a pen with it. It came from ak-builders.com

Hi Vinny,  Smile

Just out of curiosity, how much did the AR15  forging cost? and how many hours of machine work do you think is involved in finishing the forging?

Rob
It was just over $34 USD shipped. I think the cost of the casting itself was $22 something. I thought the guy that wrote the step by step book on finishing it gave an idea of how long it takes him, but I don't see it now. Me, on the other hand, it'll probably take me a year or so - unless I retire this year (but that ain't lookin good).
That's a good price. If I remember correctly, mine were $30 plus shipping.

I'm kinda tempted to get some of these... you know, just in case. ;)

I was actually looking into how much it would cost to build a "varmint" version -- long bull barrel, 2-stage trigger, etc. -- and was sort of surprised, in 2 ways - on one hand, I don't know what (and that is an admission of ignorance) some of these boutique makers are doing to charge $2K+ for a factory assembled rifle, and that I could outfit one the way I'd like for under $1k.
Leave off all the bells and whistles, and you can easily build one for under $600.

I'd personally spend more for a better barrel and trigger group, but most of the rest is just window dressing.
