Steve:
The drawer slides were made from oak from the two boards I purchased, I ripped the 1x6 in half and made square sticks which were .030 x .030, then with the mill cut groves in the sides of the box to reset them .015", leaving half of the runner sticking out from the box wall. the drawer sides were notched, with the mill, to accept the runners. It was a little tricky getting both sides to align, but after a few hours and some adjustments, everything worked out.
If I built another I would just glue the runners to the side of the box and make then half as thick.
Great work, very nice, be sure to put your'e name and date you built it somewere on it.
Now that is one damn fine tool box. Beautiful work.

Here are some more pictures of the box. This is one of the side of a drawer [

Nice job. I love the look of oak in the shop!
You may want to consider adding a spring loaded pin to the drawers to keep them from accidentally being pulled all the way out. It looks like there is ample thickness to the drawer back for a pin on one or both sides. A detent in the rail at the appropriate location would do the trick.
Thanks for sharing and photographing the project.
Tom
Very nice
A great box that will last a lifetime
John
A fine looking box and well designed too, should last a lifetime
Well done .
Cheers Mick.
Made the end plates for a roller that I am making for my lathe. At the moment, the belt rubs on the back gear shaft when the lathe runs on high speed. The material is scrap cut-outs from a plasma cutting company a mate works at. I still have to drill the mounting holes.
